What "free delivery" actually covers

This waives the delivery fee specifically — the flat charge DoorDash adds for bringing the order to you. Tipping still matters

The delivery fee waiver has nothing to do with the tip, which goes to the driver. DoorDash's default tip suggestion appears at checkout and can be adjusted before you submit the order. Removing or lowering the tip after a delivery is already in progress can affect how quickly your order gets picked up on future deliveries, since dashers can see the tip amount before accepting an order.

Who qualifies

This offer is for accounts that haven't placed a DoorDash order before, verified by email and payment method. If you've ordered under a different email in the past but are using the same card, DoorDash's fraud detection sometimes still catches it and won't apply the discount — in that case, contact their support chat rather than assuming it's a system error.
